3P Random Reflections Blog

I picked this up from a friend, who picked it up from someone else, as is often the rippling way of ideas that traverse the universe, offering themselves up as gifts, whenever our eyes and ears are open.

I don't have the exact words she used, nor the author, nor the full context in which she shared it.

What remains instead, is what it meant to me... something simple... something somehow pointing to grace.

And since we're in a season of many gifts, I thought I'd share this gift with you.

Every moment of our brief human life offers us three gifts.

In every moment, we can realize the gift of AWE, a recognition of the incomprehensible nature of life. Whatever the gales or gusts or gentle breezes carry down our lane, we can open the door, breathe in the whole of it or just the tiniest speck of it, and be astounded.

Look...... at...... this.

In every moment, we can realize the gift of GRATITUDE, a heart-centred embrace of any and all that this briefest flicker of time holds for us, including our memories of the moments behind us or our wonder for the moments beyond us.

And there's even the occasional grace of "the gratitude of being"... not thankful FOR anything, but thankful AS everything.

In every moment, we can realize the gift of GOODBYE, an acknowledgement of the intrinsic birth and death of things. Deeply understanding the death of each moment to be the very crucible of life itself... the material of ash that in its collapse, allows for birth of the next moment.

Offered up to us in each next farewell, we find our truest form of freedom.

Awe, gratitude, and goodbye... the gifts of grace.

Perhaps not often seen, perhaps often appearing out of reach, perhaps often veiled by the inevitable reduction of energy into form and all that we make of it, but nevertheless, infinitely available, for anyone, in any moment.

Perhaps just that, is the very essence of grace itself.

For the New Year, may I wish for you and yours, an abundance of grace.

With Love and Laughter,
Jonelle
